This is a general Stepdown Unit caring for a diverse, higher-acuity patient population, including: Pulmonary: acute respiratory failure, pneumonia, COPD and CHF exacerbations Cardiac: NSTEMI/STEMI not requiring ICU care, ICU downgrades, post-cardiac cath, CHF/cardiomyopathy requiring BiPAP and diuresis Arrhythmias: AFib with RVR requiring Cardizem or amiodarone drips; complete heart block awaiting pacemaker/AICD Sepsis patients not requiring pressors DKA requiring insulin drips CIWA patients Minor trauma, including hip, femur and ankle fractures Vascular surgery patients requiring neurovascular checks Occasional post-operative complicationsSchedule Options: 3x12s Every other weekend, floating, and holidays within the contract are required.No block scheduling can be accommodated

Patient RatiosTypical SDU ratio: 1:4, May occasionally flex to 1:5All travelers are expected to float in rotation. Floating may include MS/Tele, ER Holding and other appropriate unitsTravelers must be comfortable taking appropriate ratios when floating: MS/Tele ratios are minimally 1:6, but can stretch to 1:7 Minimum Requirements Active Virginia or Compact RN license in hand at the time of submission; no exceptions2+ years of RN experience required; 3+ years strongly preferredPrevious travel experience preferredStrong Neuro and Stepdown experience requiredEpic proficiency required NO EXCEPTIONS Required Certifications BLS American Heart AssociationACLS American Heart AssociationNIHSS Compliance Requirements Chesapeake will not consider candidates with any license or background hits.
