How much do you pay vs. a traditional agency?
Travelers earn at least 20% more take-home with Bypass than they would with a traditional agency on the same assignment. Every contract, no exceptions. Some contracts — especially higher bill-rate allied placements — pay 30%+ more.
How does Bypass make money?
We keep the difference between what an assignment can support and what we pay you (after VMS fees and operational costs). Our cut covers compliance, credentialing, payroll, taxes, workers' comp, and insurance — plus a sustainable margin. It's less than the ~30% traditional agencies extract, but enough to run a real business.
What does my Bypass take cover?
Job matching, contract negotiation, all compliance (drug screen, background check, license verification, credentialing), payroll processing, workers compensation, professional liability insurance, and assignment support. The full agency stack — just at a fraction of the cost.
When do I pay Bypass?
Nothing upfront. Our fee is built into the pay structure of each contract — what you see on the job page is your actual take-home. We never invoice you separately.
Do you really show the breakdown?
Yes. Every job listing shows your weekly take-home and what Bypass keeps on that specific contract. Side by side with what a traditional agency would pay. The facility bill rate is confidential by contract, so we don't publish that — but the numbers that affect your paycheck are all there.
How is this different from going independent/1099?
Going fully independent means handling your own liability insurance, workers comp, payroll taxes, credentialing, and contract negotiation. Most facilities also won't work directly with individual contractors. Bypass handles all of this, pays you 20%+ more than a traditional W-2 agency would, and you stay properly classified.
What if I need help during an assignment?
You'll have a dedicated support contact for assignment-related issues: housing questions, timesheet problems, contract extensions, or facility conflicts. We're not going to call you every week to "check in" (we know you hate that), but we're here when you need us.
Do you offer benefits?
Yes. Health, dental, and vision insurance are available. Housing and travel stipends are part of your pay package, structured the same way as any agency. The difference is that more of the money goes to you instead of to agency margin.
What specialties do you cover?
We work with the same hospitals and VMSs as major agencies. If there's a travel contract for your specialty, we can place you. Our current listings span nursing, allied health, therapy, and lab positions across all 50 states.
How do I know this is legit?
Bypass is built by a team that has placed thousands of healthcare travelers and managed compliance for hundreds of facilities. We're not a tech startup guessing at how staffing works. We've been doing this for years. We're a licensed and insured staffing company with the same credentials as major agencies. We just decided to charge a fair price for it.
Can I trust Bypass to handle my compliance and credentialing?
This is what our team does best. We've credentialed thousands of travelers: drug screens, background checks, license verification, health screenings, the full process. The compliance infrastructure behind Bypass is the same one that's been placing travelers for years. The only thing that changed is how much we charge you for it.
What if I'm new to travel nursing?
We're built for experienced travelers (2+ years). If this is your first assignment, a traditional agency with a dedicated recruiter might serve you better. Once you know the ropes and want to maximize your earnings, come back to us.
Does everyone who applies get placed?
Not necessarily. Our team reviews every candidate before submitting to a facility. You'll need recent and relevant experience in your specialty (within the last 12 months), an active license, and clean references. If we determine you don't meet facility or vendor requirements, we'll let you know. We'd rather be upfront than waste your time.
Can I use Bypass while working with another agency?
Absolutely. Compare our offers side-by-side. Ask your agency to show you the full breakdown. If they won't (and they probably won't), you'll know why.
