FAQ

Questions we actually get asked

Not the ones a marketing team made up.

How does Bypass make money at $3,000?

We run lean. No massive recruiter teams. No downtown office. No Super Bowl ads. $3,000 covers our actual cost to place and support you — compliance, payroll, insurance, the works — plus a reasonable margin. It's enough to run a real business without extracting thousands from your paycheck.

What does the $3,000 cover?

Everything. Job matching, contract negotiation, all compliance (drug screen, background check, license verification, credentialing), payroll processing, workers compensation, professional liability insurance, and assignment support. One fee. No add-ons. No surprise invoices.

When do I pay the $3,000?

The fee is deducted from your pay over the course of the assignment — not upfront. On a 13-week assignment, that works out to about $231/week. You'll see it clearly on every pay stub.

Do you really show the bill rate?

Yes. Every job listing shows what the hospital is paying. You'll see the bill rate, your take-home after Bypass fees, and a comparison to what you'd earn with a traditional agency. No "competitive pay" vagueness.

How is this different from going independent/1099?

Going fully independent means handling your own liability insurance, workers comp, payroll taxes, credentialing, and contract negotiation. Most facilities also won't work directly with individual contractors. Bypass handles all of this for $3,000 flat instead of the $9,000 an agency charges.

What if I need help during an assignment?

You'll have a dedicated support contact for assignment-related issues — housing questions, timesheet problems, contract extensions, or facility conflicts. We're not going to call you every week to "check in" (we know you hate that), but we're here when you need us.

Do you offer benefits?

Yes. Health, dental, and vision insurance are available. Housing and travel stipends are part of your pay package, structured the same way as any agency. The difference is that more of the bill rate goes to you instead of to agency margin.

What specialties do you cover?

We work with the same hospitals and VMSs as major agencies. If there's a travel contract for your specialty, we can place you. Our current listings span nursing, allied health, therapy, and lab positions across all 50 states.

How do I know this is legit?

Bypass is operated by Vital Healthcare Staffing, a licensed and insured staffing company. We're Joint Commission certified and maintain all the same credentials that major agencies do. We just charge less.

What if I'm new to travel nursing?

We're built for experienced travelers (2+ years). If this is your first assignment, a traditional agency with a dedicated recruiter might serve you better. Once you know the ropes and want to maximize your earnings, come back to us.

Can I use Bypass while working with another agency?

Absolutely. Compare our offers side-by-side. Ask your agency to show you the bill rate. If they won't — and they probably won't — you'll know why.
